Roald Dahl

If you think good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sun beams and you will always look lovely.      ~ Roald Dahl

~About Roald Dahl~

Roald Dahl: 13 September 1916 – 23 November 1990) was a British novelist, short story writer, poet, fighter pilot, and screenwriter.

Born in Wales to Norwegian parents, Dahl served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, in which he became a flying ace and intelligence officer, rising to the rank of Acting wing commander. He rose to prominence in the 1940s with works for both children and adults and became one of the world's best-selling authors.[2][3] He has been referred to as "one of the greatest storytellers for children of the 20th century".[4] Among his awards for contribution to literature, he received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 1983, and Children's Author of the Year from the British Book Awards in 1990. In 2008 The Times placed Dahl 16th on its list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945".[5]

Dahl's short stories are known for their unexpected endings and his children's books for their unsentimental, often very dark humour. His works include James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twits, George's Marvellous Medicine and The BFG.

Covid-19 Updates

This is very important information regarding laws/rules to protect ourselves and your children.

  • Students must wear a mask on the bus, entering the building, during hallway transitions, to the cafeteria, to the restrooms, and walking to activity classes.

  • Students will not be required to wear them in the classroom while sitting 6 feet apart at their desks. However, if they travel around the room for whatever reason, a mask is required.

  • Students will be provided with a mask and lanyard. If a student loses their mask, breaks it, or does not bring it to school, they will be provided with one for the day. If this becomes a recurring problem, parents will be contacted.

  • If a student is sent home with a fever and they test NEGATIVE for Covid-19, a student CANNOT return to school unless they are FEVER FREE for 48 hours with NO MEDICATION!

  • If a student is sent home and tests POSITIVE for Covid-19, you will be contacted about quarantine regulations and possible exposure of others.

  • The school nurse will not be able to take care of small incidents like pulling a tooth, bug bites, chapped lips, etc. These problems will be handled in the classroom. If you are not comfortable with me applying Neosporin, itch cream, or vaseline for lips, please let me know on the last page. The reason for this new policy is to keep students out of the nurse’s office where there could possibly be a sick child. If an emergency arises, the nurse will take care of the situation promptly.

  • Students will not have access to the drinking fountains. However, students can bring a water bottle and fill it up at the water bottle filling stations.
